By far the best grocery store in Ontario and Ive been to a lot of them.My favourite for many reasons and i am a fickle man! Staff are great(for some reason, independent grocers seem to have the best staff province wide). Prices are comparable to all other independent grocers but the staff here are the best and they have stiff competition. The hot counter is the best Ive shopped at and thats always my go to in a store, they must use different seasoning or something because the hot counter food here is amazing! Great produce, always fresh which I would expect to be difficult being a northern grocer but i must come back to the staff because of my experiences over years of shopping here. Grocery stores are a dime a dozen and the staff experience is what always brings me back to a place. The staff here are sociable! I love walking into this place! I never make it further than the front entrance before i am greeted with polite and open salutations and staff ask me if i need help! I can go on and on about the positive experiences Ive had in this one location. There was one incident of a very rude customer and the staff was so kind and tried so hard to be helpful to this jerk that i was so taken back by, i think i was just stopped in my tracks with my mouth gaped open at what a tool this person was and the staff just went above and beyond. I say throw the knob out but they did the right thing and were so nice and completely calmed the person down to the point where they thanked the staff, got what they wanted and left. Great job everyone, you must be zen masters to put up with that then continue on like thats the normal. Hats off the best people to be around with the produce that compliments your work etiquette. Keep smiling, I appreciate it so much, thank you for helping everyone, polite and rude, you go above and beyond and my words dont give justice to your actions, you really have some amazing people working there.
My dream grocery store. So well laid out, best selection, lots of PC stuff and local choices, items I have never seen, friendly staff, happy customers (had multiple friendly interactions with stragers), HUGE chicken tenders, crazy low prices, freshest produce and best store ever. I am super sad I dont live in Huntsville so I cant shop here every day. Must come back camping soon!!! Just to shop here. :) Ps husband says better selection of craft beer than the liquor store
Everything you'd come to expect from the Independent grocery chain. Great bakery, fish and meat sections. Some items are a little pricier than people from the city may be used to though. I personally didn't find it abusive though. Great gas bar too! Located just off highway 11 at the Hwy 60 exit.
Good selection but run out of some stock in the summer months. Hard to keep up with demand. Owner is a great guy and very charitable. Looking to do great things for the town. Love the new pickup service. Always clean and staff are super friendly. We do most of our shopping at this location. They carry Joe Fresh clothes as well. They carry beer at this store.
My family and I have been to independent often and especially know the man in the bakery well when he gives our children cookies. However he was incredibly rude when I asked him for assistance recently. I was appalled at his disgusting behaviour all because I asked where the cheese buns are. Then a month later I reluctantly returned with my mother because we are REGULARS and she wanted her cheese bread loaf sliced and this rude man started approaching us. I warned her of his rotten attitude however she insisted because she wanted to see him try to be rude to her. I was absolutely shocked when he was not only nice but actually came from around the counter and helped her find cheese buns. The exact thing I needed help with earlier on so he is capable of being polite! Perhaps when I asked for assistance he was simply having a bad day! Well in my opinion if you treat customers like dirt just because you're having a bad day then you either need to go home and return with a fresh day or work somewhere else alone and not in any customer service position.Overall, I am happy to shop at independent including the bakery however I avoid him like the plague. For 8 years I've been buying cakes and icing from the bakery, this year I plan to return and hope another employee will be available to assist me. Now I make sure my son and niece get cookies from anyone there except him. Unacceptable Independent!!
